It's been a minute since we've heard Blackstar, Mos Def and Talib Kweli rock the scene together but when we do it's, well, music to our ears. Since their debut album they have put out multiple solo projects, all which have been very great efforts to carry the torch in these dark ages. Yet, to me, they shine they brightest when together, maybe that's why they call em Blackstar. Together they seem to balance one another like those yoga people that hold each other while the other is floating in air. Well thank you for the snack but I think we could use a full course meal.

New Music Review

This dude Curren$y has got my attention. Not to flashy, very A.M., P.M., meaning its good to wake up to, as well as something you can bump to get the night started. His vocals lay on top of the beat like bed sheets. Lyrical content is laced with clever metaphors, dribbled with inner city truths, that type of music you crumble something up too. Can't say too much else except check out his music, his resume seems to be growing each time I check for new joint from this cat.

100 artist 100 boards and the auctions started at $100 dollars.

These are a few boards I thought stood out amongst the rest, but I did miss a few.

The great thing about shows like this is you get to see the wide range of creativity in which all the artist have the same perimeters, or structure to create and articulate their vision. I only wish the auction started at maybe $75 dollars instead of $100 which allows the patrons of the event to bid more competitive. I would have love to bid on a board or three but there were no room in my account to place my name on more than one board and possibly win all three. Lowering the price would have allowed more people to bid and possibly more sells, but I am pretty sure they turn over a lot of sells. Also I must admit some of the boards were worth more than $100 dollars but some were worth less, which is only in the eye of the beholder, but since it is me on the mic, that's my opinion. Overall I believe the show was a success because the majority of work was top tier. Art Review

I like to take time to review some art here in Atlanta. These are a few things that caught my eye and rubbed me fancy. Well I would like to start with the mixed medium sculptures created by Rachael Zaudke Wilkins. These mixed medium horses are the perfect combination of copper and ceramics. These elegant sculptures capture the movement and strength of real equine, as well as exploit elements with the exaggeration of the legs, which allow the negative space to bring out the motion of horse. The ruff texture of the ceramics echos with rust of different colors that you would traditionally find on copper, bronze, and other metals. Check out more at www.zaudkesculpture.com

Next I would like to place my shades on to look at this one. This is unique as well as functional piece of art. I like to call it Chang's Chair but I am not sure if that is the title. It is composed of 1/2" acrylic laminated with wood grain, which is then illuminated from underneath. Chang always has a way of impressing his audience and we will see more reviews of his visions.

I went to this Modern Design show at the old Uhaul Lofts at 10th and Howell Mill a few weeks back. They have gutted what use to be real lofts and are in the process of giving them a face lift. Seems to be the trend here in ATL, but moving on to what was inside. Lots of nice modern, sleek, mid century design through out the exhibit but I was drawn to this mocha cabinet with a bamboo top, a pull out drawer in the center at the top, and below is a fold down door which allows access to the inside, flanked by suicide doors. Since the closing of the gallery I have had time to explore new avenues. I feel it is time to expand the 75mixedmedium brand to new heights. So here you have it, the new apparel from 75mixedmedium. T-shirts, button downs, place mats, bags, and coming soon lamp shades. What's next?

"Seeing the Light"

"Seeing the Light" featured works from Jeremiah Chang and David Armistead. Jeremiah Chang's work incorporates light, sculpture, shadows and furniture to create installation art. David Armistead exhibits colorful abstract paintings which consist of morse code, and a collection of minimal line drawings on paper. We welcome both artists to 75 Mixed Medium as we hosted "SEEING THE LiGHT" during the Castleberry Hill Gallery Tour Friday April 27th, 2007. Their works created a buzz and is one of our most talked about shows in Atlanta.

Triple 7 Event

April 7th, 2007 we hosted Triple 7 , an evening of good food, good music, and good people. It turned out to be a good night for artists of many media, from visual art to music, fashion, dance, and more to mingle and exchange ideas. We also featured amazing figure drawing and florals from Nagisa Higashida, and new paintings from Michael Jones. Here's a few pics from that night.

Hammer Time

The challenges are a constant battle in life.. I have learn to roll with the punches to prevent from bruising, but having a hard head helps. I've taken a hammer to the head and I would not recommend . it. The transition from becoming an artist to gallery owner is similar to taking that hammer to the head. A big wake up call. To most people that hammer would knock you out but if your like me you would just scream like a little bitch (age 7) and learn to move the next time someone tosses a hammer in the air.

Daniels works consist of abstract photography, He focus in on the things most take for granted to create these abstract photo's of urban environments. Michaels new works are the "Sketch Pad Series", mixed medium collage works with reference to cityscapes.

Hello World and welcome to 75 Mixed Medium Art Gallery . I am Michael Jones your blog host and Gallery Director of 75 Mixed Medium. I opened the gallery in November of 2006. Its April 2007 and the buzz is increasing. This is my first blog so it may take a while to get the grasp on things but things will get better as time permits. Life is a test and so is this first blog . Its funny how things relate.

We at 75 mm would like to thank all those that came down on Sat. April 7Th to enjoy the cold weather and take part in the Mark of the Feast "Triple 7" There were lots of beautiful people out and was a great way to start off Spring. I ran into this cat name Iceworm and he asked if I could share some of his poetry to the world. I told him if its good enough:

Help me untangle this fallen angel
searching for chicken wings, I look at every angle
Different things dangle , I ride the handle bars,
while the fallen angel pedals hard
through the danger ghetto yards,
I never leave home with out my ghetto credit card,
protected by my god body guards,
